“Meghalayan Age” has been started from 4200 years ago until the present. It is under the“Holocene Epoch”. Meghalayan Age has been defined as a new division in geologic time as defined by the “International Commission on Stratigraphy” (ICS). And it shall appear on all the official charts depicting the geological past of the Earth. The term “Meghalayan Age” has been derived from the state of Meghalaya situated in India. It is also the home to “Seven Sisters Waterfalls”. As the Meghalayan Age” started it was depicted by a “mega-drought” which destroyed various civilization worldwide. The events of last few thousand years has been understood by the scientists by this new classification.
“The Holocene Epoche”
The present time can be put into “Cenozoic Era”, ”Quaternary Period” and “Holocene Epoch”.
“Cenozoic Era” started about 65 million years ago after “Mesozoic Era”.
“Cenozoic Era “ can be subdivided into two periods:
Tertiary Period; and
Quaternary period.
“Tertiary Period “ and “Quaternary Period” were also divided into epochs.
The “Tertiary Period” has five epochs:
Paleocene;
Ecocene;
Oligocene;
Miocene; and
Pliocene.
The “Quaternary Period” has two epochs:
Pleistocene; and
Holocene.
“Holocene Epoch” has been subdivided into three ages:
Meghalayan age;
North Grippian ; and
Greenlandian.
.Under the “Cenozoic Era” it falls . “The Holocene epoch” falls under Cenozoic Era and it is the time after Ice Age. All the underneath divisions of the Holocene Epoch is pointed out by some layers collected on the sea beds, bottom of the lake, ice of the glacier and in stalactites and stalagmites across the world.
Proofs of the “Greenlandian” and “Northgrippian” stages were found at specific stages in Greenland’s ice cores (snow turning into ice, and preserves a record of the climate every year). For the newer part of the Holocene, this technique did not work as it used to work with the older part.
And that is why the part which is new was pointed out by the difference of isotopes or its types of atoms of which is present in the stalagmite rock layers from the Maumluh Cave in Meghalaya.
“International geo-standards” is the name which is given to both the ice cores and the stalagmite
The stalagmite has been recognised as a Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Points( GSSP) , this is the marking as the formal ratification of a Geological time period change in India..
Geological age dating method, is used by the scientists to study the rock’s age.
CONCLUSION
The formal set up of “The Meghalayan Age” as an awesome geological time period, which stands as a testament to the difficult approaches that makes our planet’s records. It has been considered as the maximum recent addition to the “Holocene Epoch”. “The Meghalayan Age” has been categorized by a particular pointer in the form of a stalagmite, that serves as the “Global Boundary Stratotype” section and points (GSSP). This “geological epoch”not only contributes to our knowledge of Earth's dynamic past but also underscores the significance of world collaboration and meticulous “medical research”. As we go in the in-depth study of “theMeghalayan Age”, it opens new places for unraveling the complicated interplay of sustainable forces and human impact, improving our draw close of the complicated tapestry that defines the story of our planet's evolution.
